What Deckling is

Deckling is a plugin published in the ooiyeefei/ccc repository on GitHub, which has about 493 stars. The repository describes itself as: “Claude Code Custom Plugins - Custom plugins for Claude Code CLI”

A plugin is a package that bundles skills, slash commands, subagents, hooks, and MCP connectors so they install together. Plugins are plain files with a manifest at .claude-plugin/plugin.json, and they work in both Claude Code and Claude Cowork.

Installing Deckling adds everything it ships in one step. Connectors inside a plugin still need to be connected separately, and hooks and subagents only run in Cowork and Claude Code, not in regular chat.

How to install Deckling

Claude Code

  1. Add the repository as a plugin marketplace: claude plugin marketplace add ooiyeefei/ccc
  2. Install the plugin: claude plugin install deckling@<marketplace-name>, using the marketplace name from the repository's .claude-plugin/marketplace.json.
  3. Restart the session if the new skills or commands don't appear straight away.

Claude Cowork

  1. Open Customize → Plugins and choose Add marketplace.
  2. Enter ooiyeefei/ccc (the owner/repo shorthand works for GitHub).
  3. Find Deckling in the list, click Install, then connect any connectors it needs from its Connectors tab.

A Claude Code plugin that generates professional PowerPoint presentations using Anthropic's Platform Skills API.

Why Deckling? Traditional approaches like python-pptx produce ugly slides because LLMs guess text box coordinates. Deckling uses Anthropic's server-side rendering engine for high-fidelity, professional results.

Features

  • Generate - Create new presentations from a topic description
  • Refine - Edit existing presentations with natural language instructions
  • Recover - Download files if generation succeeds but download fails

Installation

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code installed
  • Python 3.8+
  • Anthropic API key with access to Platform Skills

Install the Plugin

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/ooiyeefei/ccc.git
cd ccc

# Add as a local marketplace and install
/plugin marketplace add .
/plugin install deckling@ccc

Install Dependencies

pip install anthropic

Set API Key

export ANTHROPIC_API_KEY='sk-ant-api03-...'

Usage

Generate a New Presentation

/deckling "Quarterly Business Review - 3 slides"
/deckling "Introduction to Machine Learning - 5 slides, professional style"

Refine an Existing Presentation

Edit text, add slides, or modify styling:

/deckling "Change the title to 'Q4 Results'" --refine quarterly.pptx
/deckling "Make all backgrounds dark blue" --refine my_deck.pptx
/deckling "Add a new slide about pricing at the end" --refine product.pptx

Note: Refine creates a versioned file (e.g., my_deck_v2.pptx) and never overwrites the original.

Recover a Lost File

If generation succeeds but download fails, use the FILE_ID from the output:

/deckling "file_abc123" --recover

How It Works

Deckling uses Anthropic's Platform Skills API which provides server-side document generation. The workflow:

  1. Generate: Send topic to API → Claude creates slides in a container → Download PPTX
  2. Refine: Upload existing file → Send edit instructions → Download new version

The API runs an agentic loop (multi-turn conversation) which this plugin handles automatically.

Cost

  • Generation and refinement use API credits for conversation + code execution
  • Simpler prompts (fewer slides) = faster + cheaper
  • Typical generation: 20-60 seconds

Roadmap

  • --template flag for branded presentations using a style template

Before you install

  • Read the whole file first. Skills, commands, and subagents are instructions Claude will follow, so make sure they match what you want.
  • Check which tools, scripts, or MCP servers it uses. Local servers and scripts run with your permissions.
  • Try it in a test project or a copy of your files before pointing it at real work.
  • Pin the version you tested, and review changes before updating.
  • Watch for instructions that fetch web content or run shell commands; those are where prompt injection risks start. See our prompt injection guide.
