What Team Assemble is

Team Assemble is a plugin published in the team-attention/plugins-for-claude-natives repository on GitHub, which has about 827 stars. The repository describes itself as: “Claude Code plugins for power users”

A plugin is a package that bundles skills, slash commands, subagents, hooks, and MCP connectors so they install together. Plugins are plain files with a manifest at .claude-plugin/plugin.json, and they work in both Claude Code and Claude Cowork.

Installing Team Assemble adds everything it ships in one step. Connectors inside a plugin still need to be connected separately, and hooks and subagents only run in Cowork and Claude Code, not in regular chat.

How to install Team Assemble

Claude Code

  1. Add the repository as a plugin marketplace: claude plugin marketplace add team-attention/plugins-for-claude-natives
  2. Install the plugin: claude plugin install team-assemble@<marketplace-name>, using the marketplace name from the repository's .claude-plugin/marketplace.json.
  3. Restart the session if the new skills or commands don't appear straight away.

Claude Cowork

  1. Open Customize → Plugins and choose Add marketplace.
  2. Enter team-attention/plugins-for-claude-natives (the owner/repo shorthand works for GitHub).
  3. Find Team Assemble in the list, click Install, then connect any connectors it needs from its Connectors tab.

New to extending Cowork? Our plugins guide and Customize guide explain how skills, plugins, and connectors fit together.

Dynamically assemble expert agent teams for complex tasks using Claude Code's agent teams feature.

What It Does

Instead of manually designing and coordinating multiple agents, team-assemble:

  1. Analyzes your task and identifies relevant codebase areas
  2. Scouts the codebase to understand what agents are needed
  3. Designs an optimal team with the right roles and dependencies
  4. Executes agents in parallel where possible
  5. Validates results against acceptance criteria
  6. Cleans up the team automatically

Prerequisites

Agent teams are experimental and must be enabled first. Add to your settings.json:

{
  "env": {
    "CLAUDE_CODE_EXPERIMENTAL_AGENT_TEAMS": "1"
  }
}

See skills/team-assemble/references/enable-agent-teams.md for detailed setup instructions.

Usage

Tell Claude what you need and ask it to assemble a team:

Assemble a team to refactor our authentication from session-based to JWT
Use team-assemble to evaluate caching strategies — Redis vs Memcached vs in-memory
Assemble a team to extract shared utilities from three microservices into a common library

The skill will guide you through approval gates before execution begins.

How It Works

6-Phase Workflow

Phase 1 → Phase 2 → Phase 3 → Phase 4 → Phase 5 → Phase 6
Task Codebase Integrate Execute Validate Complete
Analysis Scouts & Confirm & Cleanup

Model 3-Tier Strategy

Agents are assigned models based on their role:

Key Features

  • Dynamic agent design — no fixed catalog, agents are tailored to each task
  • Parallel execution — independent agents run simultaneously
  • Acceptance criteria — every team has measurable validation criteria
  • Verify/fix loop — QA validates, support fixes (max 3 rounds)
  • Two approval gates — user confirms scope (Phase 1) and team composition (Phase 3)

Before you install

  • Read the whole file first. Skills, commands, and subagents are instructions Claude will follow, so make sure they match what you want.
  • Check which tools, scripts, or MCP servers it uses. Local servers and scripts run with your permissions.
  • Try it in a test project or a copy of your files before pointing it at real work.
  • Pin the version you tested, and review changes before updating.
  • Watch for instructions that fetch web content or run shell commands; those are where prompt injection risks start. See our prompt injection guide.
